Asafoetida (Heeng / Hing) – हींग
Asafoetida is the dried latex exuded from the rhizome or tap root of several species of Ferula, perennial herbs growing 1 to 1.5 m tall.
Asafoetida has been shown to be a source of antioxidants. Still, while limited research suggests multiple benefits, particularly for digestive health, there’s a need for more research especially in humans.
Still, when ground into a powder, hing can be a good addition to your spice box. Just a small pinch can add a savory, to dishes, such as curries,Sambar,Soups, and Stews.
